Meet Some Sewers

These lovely people have been to my workshop and have built up their confidence in sewing techniques, they now know their way around a sewing machine, how different fabrics are created and their individual characteristics. They have made items from scratch or brought their own projects to work on in my cosy workshop.

Bags Galore

These fantastic bags, made by Mark, new to sewing and making a fabulous start to his sewing creations..

Fabulous Tote

Nicola’s first tote bag and a brilliant finish, new to sewing and a great first item.

Christmas Advent Calendar

Raising money for Marie Curie Joanne has made some wonderful gifts, this being one of the super bargains.

Summer Trousers

These fabulous trousers were made by Vici at home following other successful makes at the workshop with me and on her own.

Jacket Transformation

This is an amazing transformation, from a long boxed jacket to a stylish short one. Danielle did a fab job on this upcycle.

Totes with shy owners

These lovely totes were made by two camera shy ladies! One who is new to sewing and the other who has started again with excellent results

Trousers Simplicity 8841

These calf length trousers made by Susan are super soft and have a lovely easy drape. The fabric is from 1st for Fabrics. It is a lovely easy pattern and Susan has done a great job on her first every trousers.

Baggy Bag

Another fab bag created by Susan, with four pleats back and front, all lined and Susan’s choice of fabric (suedette and patterned cotton) is a great match. Again a super made bag.

Denim Tote

Denim Tote bag in the making and the fabulous finished product. Freya brought her vision to the workshop and absolutely nailed it.

Two Totes

Two fabulous patchwork totes sewn together by two super ladies, so well done and with little and no sewing knowledge – absolutely great. Fabric from 1st For Fabrics.

Skirts

These two skirts were completed by Susan, one completed with me in the workshop and the second at home on her own, brilliant achievement. Fabric from 1st For Fabrics.

Tote

Another successful tote bag created in the workshop. Danielle has done a brilliant job, including inserting zipped pocket. This is her first tote, but I’m sure this will not her last creation.

Patchwork Tote

Well done Marie for this creation, I love the colour combination, the cactus too. Marie managed to get this done in double quick time.

Cushion Cover

This applique cushion cover was designed by Susan to match her bedroom colours. Her first attempt and it is so good, the back is fastened with three wooden buttons.

Two Tone Bag

These two lovely ladies came along to my workshop and completed these bags with very little (to none) experience cutting out or using a sewing machine. Excelling job.

Patchwork Tote

This tote has rekindled Susan’s sewing bug! The patchwork enabled her to work on precise sewing to match up the squares. Susan included an inside zipped pocket, finishing the bag with a fabulous creative stitch on the straps.

Block Pattern

This is a snap shot of a block pattern Agnes and I worked on. Following some good, but sometimes complicated instructions, we worked on a well fitted bodice. A learning curve for both of us!

Tote bag

Another Susan, bringing together a patchwork tote bag. Susan is working on the calico lining in this photo, inserting a zipped pocket that will sit inside the bag, adding a handy little safe space for keys or a mobile.

Blue Rope Bag

This is Susan’s second success, a Rope Bag made from 3 separate fat quarter pieces and some pale blue needle cord. The rope from BST Fabrics has been fed through eyelets that Susan engineered herself.

Trouser Hemming

Toni arrived with trousers and skirts that needed some attention. Hems mainly, so we set about taking old stitching out, pinning and hemming. Toni did all the ironing, overlocking, sewing, and did an amazing job.

Cushion Covering

Julie wanted to breath new life into her garden furniture cushions, so we visited BST Fabrics and she bought some fabulous striped fabric, ideal for her project. Pretty tricky to handle, but Julie totally got to grips with it.
